I went out from my place to Pudu at around 11:30am and managed to catch the 1pm bus to Melaka.

This is the first time I've taken a bus to Melaka as previously I came there with my parents' car long ago. It took around 2 hours to reach Melaka Central from Pudu and cost me RM11 for the ticket. I had a lunch at Marrybrown there...

OK... here's a way to go to TeenC@m from Melaka Central.

Try to take a bus rather than taxi at Melaka Central. I asked a few of them and I had one charging me RM40 while the lowest is RM15 which of course I just walked away from them with a giggling smile of "Yup, Memang Boleh" but for me "Zettai.... Tak Boleh". Thanks to my friend, he told me to take a bus to Ocean as shown on picture above. The fare is 60 sen and the bus is S.K.A but any other bus would do as long it goes to Ocean.

When you reach there, go down and you would see "The Store" building opposite of Ocean and from there walk left to a junction where there's a lot of cars moving along. You will walk past "Restoran Sederhana Ria" nearby and when you reached the junction...

You should see an overpass as shown on the picture above where I've marked a red circle on it. There's also a petrol station nearby too. Anyway just walk straight towards the overpass bridge which isn't that far and the moment you reach there you'll see a RHB bank. Just cross over the bridge to the bank and TeenC@m is just around that area. There was a short rain while I was heading there.

You can see the picture of the shop from the site at the "about" page and here's are some pictures taken by infestedysy:

*one link here has been removed due to error of reference as it's not the picture of the shop ^^;*

The shop is kinda like XL Shop in Midvalley but bigger. Anyway I walked around and OMG the figure is not there but anyway I asked the staff and it's seems to be a mistake as the item was not yet arrived thus need to preorder it. A glimmer of hope as I told them to post it to my place and there's a 15% discount too for preordered items.

I have to say the service was good and the staff there are helpful and friendly. Compare with the toy shops in KL/PJ not much of difference but I rate it as among the best not just it has a website where you can order and such but nice service as well a good amount of products and the price are reasonable.

I was kinda late but managed to rush back and take the 5:30pm bus back to KL... the fare was RM9.40 btw.

Oh dear gonna wait for some time :(

next week... come my cutie \(-_-)/

I wanted to meet my friend there but he was busy and I was planning to visit some other place in Melaka but it was late; I might go there again when my friend finishes his exam next month and tour around the area.

Hurr you must have loved that purple haired loli very much now do you? btw, did they still have a rack that sells model kits/trading figures? It disappeared the last time I passed by the shop (didn't ask why, though, I was in a hurry). You should've visited its branch too, located at Jalan Bunga Raya, along the road where the infamous Tan Kim Hock shop is at. It originally was opened by the shopowner's elder brother, but recently got renovated and changed its name to Teen@Com too, with the same ripped off design like XL-shop (the orange-ish color all over the place, their site address pasted all over the display cabinets).

    >The shop is kinda like XL Shop in Midvalley but bigger

O_O. And I thought XL shop's supposed to be moar superior in this department.

XL shop is indeed superior, but they don't sell anime VCD or DVD and such now just mainly toys and figures. I haven't been to their HQ a long time but I think it's like a warehouse now, full of goodies.

There are some racks displaying trading figures and some staff was arranging the PVC figures while I look around. It's not as wow as I expected but still not bad and quite of variety. I do find the shop similar to XL Shop... and in general I find it on par but if it's figures and collectables then XL Shop would be better.

I tend to visit various hobby shop I can find, like recently teencom and quite long ago Aunt Lenny Shop. There's isn't many hobby shops that sells mainly Japanese stuffs as most are US like Star Wars, McFarlene, Transformer...

As for the branch perhaps I would go on my next visit... so far I've been to those in JB (my hometown), KL/PJ and now Melaka. Not sure other places though and from many shops I've visited, I would say teencom is a really good Japanese toys shop here.

    oh, and I forgot:

^ this = taken in a shop near Teen@Com. It's located on one of the ground floor shops in the plaza opposite Sekolah Menengah Gajah Berang (around 5 minutes' walk from Teen@Com). Shop's name's "Star Bookstore", with a yellow signboard. They mainly sell gashapon and trading figures, though, very little PVC.

Unbelievable... This Star bookstore seems to have the most figurines I've seen, there's quite a number of the bookstore in KL/PJ but so far I visited none have that much stuffs except books and DVD/VCD. Probably IMO due to stuff competition in KL/PJ as I heard from anime/etc toys sellers they would just sell books and such.

Melaka might be another superior.... ô_ô

    bios:
How do you preorder? Do you go up to the cashier, and say "y hello there, I would like to preorder something? Al-Azif, know what I'm talking about?" or what?

  6. Anonymous Anonymous

I just go and ask them whether if AL-Azif is available... they don't really know about the figure and they ask me to describe. I say it's from their website. They able to check from the website on their PC and they say hasn't arrived yet so need to preorder. They gave me a form to fill in my address as I wanted it to be delivered to my place. There's a 15% discount as well for preordering items...

    >>I just go and ask them whether if AL-Azif is available... they don't really know about the figure and they ask me to describe. I say it's from their website.

lol. They have no idea about the products they sell. I've met with awkward situations too, at the other shop I've mentioned (the one selling mainly gashapon stuffs), where I try to make a purchase by saying the set's name (as written on a piece of paper, as seen in the link I posted), only to be faced by an awkward silence... I eventually resorted to pointing at whatever I wanted to buy >_>. I wonder if that's the same case as in XL-shop?

Anyway, I was at Teen@com today, and I finally realised the purpose of those imported Japanese Dengeki Hobby/Hobby Japan magazine they have. A guy was opening a page of one of the magazines, pointing here and there, and whatnot, asking one of the girls on the cashier about the availability of them and preordering them.

*I wonder if that's the same case as in XL-shop?*

Speaking of them I'm quite suprised all the XL staff know their products very well. Sometimes they can't really remember names but just describe a bit they would know as the looks of the figures is easier for them to remember.
